PLEASE READ THIS PRIVACY STATEMENT CAREFULLY IF YOU ARE NOT PREPARED TO CONSENT TO THE USE OF YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION BY DAWN WATTIE LAW CORPORATION FOR THE PURPOSES SET OUT ON THE INNOVATION LAW WEBSITE OR IN THIS PRIVACY STATEMENT THEN DO NOT CONTINUE USE OF THE WEBSITE OR SHOULD YOU WISH TO OPT OUT OF CONSENT TO THE USE OF PERSONAL INFORMATION THEN YOU MAY OPT OUT IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE PROVISIONS OF THIS STATEMENT.

This Privacy Statement and the Dawn Wattie Law Corporation Privacy Code sets out how Dawn Wattie Law Corporation manages your personal information, safeguards your privacy in accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act (“PIPA”) of British Columbia.

This Privacy Statement covers the site www.innovation-law.ca (the “Web site”) including all sub-domains.

Dawn Wattie Law Corporation through its Innovation Law website provides information concerning the provision of legal and dispute resolution services provided by Dawn Wattie Law Corporation.  Your browsing and use of this Website indicates that you accept these privacy terms and conditions and any subsequent modifications and that you are consenting to the collection and use of your personal information for the purposes of arranging a meeting to discuss and engage Dawn Wattie Law Corporation for the provision of legal or dispute resolution services only.  We may change our Privacy Statement at any time, without notice to you.  You are responsible and encouraged to review the Privacy Statement regularly.

Information Gathering and Usage

We collect the e-mail addresses of those who communicate with us via e-mail, aggregate information on what pages individuals visiting our site are clicking on. The information we collect is used to improve the content of our Web pages and the quality of our service, and is not shared with or sold to other organizations for commercial purposes, except to provide legal or dispute resolution services you’ve requested, when we have your permission, or under the following circumstances:

  • It is necessary to share information in order to investigate, prevent, or take action regarding illegal activities, suspected fraud, situations involving potential threats to the physical safety of any person, violations of Terms of Service, or as otherwise required by law.
  • We use collected information for the following general purposes: products and services provision, services improvement, contact, and research.

Cookies

A cookie is a small amount of data, which often includes an anonymous unique identifier, that is sent to your browser from a web site’s computers and stored on your computer’s hard drive. Cookies may be required to use our Website and if you do not want to be subject to cookies then you may not be able to view all the information on our Website . We use cookies to record current session information, but do not use permanent cookies.

Automatically collected information

Like most standard Web site servers we use log files. This includes internet protocol (IP) addresses, browser type, internet service provider (ISP), referring/exit pages, platform type, date/time stamp, and number of clicks to analyze trends, administer the site, track user’s movement in the aggregate, and gather broad demographic information for aggregate use. IP addresses, etc. are not linked to personally identifiable information.

Information Disclosure

UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES DOES DAWN WATTIE LAW CORPORATION RENT OR SELL PERSONAL INFORMATION OF OUR USERS TO THIRD PARTIES.

CEMs (SPAM}

At no time will we send any CEMs to you without your consent.

Your Choice to Opt out of Electronic Communications

If you use our appointment application on the Website, we may collect personal information, you have a choice to opt out of any electronic communication by sending us an email.  However, if you opt out of providing the required personal information to access our legal and dispute resolution services, you may not be able to fully use or access legal and dispute resolution services through electronic means. You may request us to remove you and your personal information from the system at which point we will manually remove you from the database. If you are no longer interested in receiving e-mail and/or other communications information from Dawn Wattie Law Corporation, please e-mail your request to dawn@dwlc.ca.  Please include your complete name and mailing address (as well as your e-mail address) if you prefer not to receive direct materials.

In the event that this Website contains links to other sites. Please be aware that we are not responsible for the privacy practices of such other sites.  We encourage our users to be aware when they leave our site and to read the privacy statements of each and every website that collects personally identifiable information.  This Privacy Statement applies solely to www.innovation-law.ca and does not apply to any of the third party links located on our Website.

Accessing/Updating/Deleting/Deactivating Personal Information

Upon your request, we will close your account and remove your personal information from view as soon as reasonably possible, based on your account activity and in accordance with applicable law. We do retain personal information from closed accounts in order to comply with law, prevent fraud, collect any fees owed, resolve disputes, troubleshoot problems, assist with any investigations, enforce our Agreements, and take other actions otherwise permitted by law. You may request access to your personal information.  All requests must be made in writing and addressed to Dawn Wattie Law Corporation.  You will be required to provide some information for security reasons and to verify that it is your account.  A small administrative fee may apply, depending on the request.  We have the right to deny access to personal information, if we ever denies your request for access to your personal information, we will explain why. If you no longer desire our legal and dispute resolution services, we provide a way to correct, update or delete/deactivate a user’s personally identifiable information. This can usually be done by emailing dawn@dwlc.ca or phoning at 604-385-3952.
